Ernest Cole, lost and found

Awarded at the mlast Cannes Film Festival the Raoul Peck documentary highlights the unknown South African photographer Ernest Cole who has written "House of bondage" (1966) dealing witht the arpartheid daily life. The Ernest Cole working gives a huge part to facts and reality like Raoul Peck does in his films ("Lumumba" (2000) and "I'm not your negro" (2017)) underlining those who stay out the system and also depecting the persecutions. After the "House of bondage" publishing Ernest Cole moves to New - York city where he watches on television the 1967 bloody summer riots in Detroit. Towards his pictures Ernest Cole questioned the violence against the African people or the African American people in the both sides of the Atlantic ocean. The documentary beginning happens by the discovering of 60.000 negatives non developed inside a Swedish bank coffer in 2017. With few informations about Ernest Cole the documentary director Raoul Peck builds something very powerful showing us an unlucky genius artist.
