Making a movie about the protographer Nan Goldin isn't something easy beacause she owns a strong personnality but the film director succeeds to do that. Interested by discovering the Goldin's life and commitments Laura Poitras builds a typical American script with a good person against the others. She uses three main Goldin's life episods. Her sister Barbara was a shiny and cleaver woman who wanted to leave her very strict family but didn't know how. Before being an adult she kills herself. Destroyed by that Nan Goldin runs away from her family for staying in the New - York underground during the 1970's and and the 1980's among friends, lovers or others and watches most of them Aids victims. The third episod will be her fight against the Sackler family the OxyContin's dealers a kind of opium given a lot by doctors as medecine during the 2000's. OxyContin stays as something very addictive and kills many people. Nan Goldin doesn't judge those who takes OxyContin because she was a former junkie and explains their need as a way for curing some sorrows. Laura Poitras and Nan Goldin follow the same commitment against injustices and the both are ready to hold a crusade like pressions on museums for removing the Sakler gifts (artwashing).
